Cheshire Funeral Director Missy Melin-Miles Elected to Board of State Assn.

Missy Melin-Miles has been elected to serve on the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association’s (CFDA) Executive Committee.

Melin-Miles is a licensed funeral director/embalmer with Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes, Inc., based in Cheshire. In addition to Cheshire, the 93-year-old family-owned funeral firm has locations in Naugatuck and Waterbury.

After receiving her professional schooling from Briarwood College of Mortuary Science (now Lincoln College of New England) in Southington, Conn., Melin-Miles became a funeral director/embalmer in 2000. Prior to joining Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes in 2013, she was a funeral director/embalmer in Arizona, and worked as an embalmer in Japan and Colorado.

Melin-Miles lives in Wolcott, Conn. with her husband, Chris, and their son. The native of West Haven, Conn. is an alumna of Lauralton Hall in Milford, Conn.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. The 2017 Officers and Executive Committee elections were held during the association’s 128th Annual Convention in December. Founded in 1889, the Wethersfield-based association is committed to the promotion and advocacy of high ethical standards in funeral service. This includes the development and presentation of ongoing professional training opportunities for practitioners and educational programs for association members and the public.
