Cheshire High Graduation Postponed Until August

School officials are hoping to hold a traditional graduation ceremony in August.

CHESHIRE, CT — School officials have postponed Cheshire High School’s graduation with the hope of having a traditional ceremony in August.

“Cheshire High School will celebrate graduation in-person at CHS on Sunday, August 2nd at 6 pm IF AND ONLY IF permitted by state and local health officials,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “In the event that officials do not permit an in-person graduation ceremony at CHS, we will hold a drive-in ceremony at the Farmington Polo Club.”

The rain date for either event is Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.

“Thank you to all of our senior students and families who completed the survey to express your opinion on how we could best celebrate you!” officials wrote.

The Meriden Record-Journal reports 72 percent of the students who responded to the survey and 69 percent of the parents selected the option to postpone graduation until August.

Dodd Middle School and the elementary schools will be holding virtual celebrations of promotion.
