Cheshire High School Fall Play 'Ash Girl'
Performances of "The Ash Girl" will take place Nov. 20, 21, 22.

Cheshire High School Drama proudly presents, The Ash Girl by Timberlake Wertenbaker.
The Ash Girl is a revised version of the Brothers Grimm’s, “Cinderella.” In this tale, Ash Girl is prevented from going to the ball (where she would meet the prince), not by her evil step mother, but by her own self-doubt.
Buoyed up by a fairy in a mirror, a moment of “clarity” about her virtues and a little magic, she attends the ball and maybe finds the man of her dreams?

To add to her struggles, the forest between her home and the palace is populated by animal versions of the Seven Deadly Sins (with the addition of Sadness) which are out to destroy humanity.
Each person must overcome his/her own flaws and, Ash girl, upon returning home from the ball, realizes, “that in order to regain the fleeting happiness she found in the arms of the prince, she must fight the monsters who have slithered and insinuated their way into her heart and mind. She must believe in herself for others to do so” (Dramatic Publishing).
