Cheshire High School Ranked as One of the Top Schools in the Nation
Newsweek Magazine ranks Cheshire in its Top 500 Public High Schools in America list.

Cheshire High School was recently named as one of the top schools in the nation by Newsweek Magazine.
Newsweek ranked Cheshire High as No. 401 in its Top 500 Public High Schools in America list. Cheshire was one of only 13 state schools to make the rankings and it’s the first time the school has been recognized by Newsweek.
“For many years, along with our administration and faculty, I have taken great pride in the accomplishments of our students at Cheshire High School,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio said in a press release. “Most important is the academic foundation and life skills that are developed at Cheshire High School, which allow students to succeed after they graduate. The ranking in Newsweek Magazine is a great honor and an affirmation for the entire Cheshire High community. It is an acknowledgement of the value that we have placed on challenging all students to achieve their highest level.”

The rankings were devised by initially identifying schools that performed above the 80th percentile on standardized testing within each state. Those schools were then evaluated considering criteria such as Advanced Placement enrollment, Scholastic Aptitude Test performance, and graduation rates. The ultimate ratings were based on a factor Newsweek identified as College Readiness Score.
“Our national ranking in Newsweek is a testament to the strong partnership between our students, parents, staff, and students,” Cheshire High School Principal Jeff Solan said in a press release. “Our faculty is committed to creating an engaging and supportive environment where students and teachers are constantly challenging themselves to improve. Being honored as one of America’s best high schools validates all of the effort that is put forth, but also fuels us to be even better.”
