Cheshire High School Student Was Detained By ICE Due To Paperwork Error: Reports
The student was recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents based on a paperwork error, according to reports.
CHESHIRE, CT — A Cheshire High School student was recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents based on a paperwork error, according to multiple reports.
The 19-year-old student was detained by ICE outside of his home last Monday, according to officials.
The student’s father is an interpreter who worked with U.S. forces in Afghanistan and was previously detained by ICE last year.

The New Haven Register first reported that a federal judge found over the weekend that the student was granted humanitarian parole in 2024 that expired in October 2026.
However, ICE agents “erroneously” claimed that his parole had expired in October 2025, according to the Register.

WTNH News 8 reports an online form mistakenly showed a one-year parole period while the student was detained.
The form was corrected after he was detained, but his parole status was revoked, according to WTNH.
