Cheshire Historical Society Accepts CT Community Foundation Grant

CHS accepts grant for the commemoration of the Civil War Monument on its 150th anniversary and celebration of its restoration.

The Cheshire Historical Society is pleased to announce the awarding of $1,000 sponsorship grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation. The foundation focuses on helping communities and fostering partnerships. Historical Society member Robert Larkin applied for the grant, which will go towards the commemoration of Cheshire’s 150-year-old civil war monument on the green. On July 9th Cheshire will rededicate the monument to the Civil War soldiers including the 126 names on the memorial. President Diane Calabro says, “The Cheshire Historical Society is very proud to be the recipient of the CCF grant. This helps our arts and culture efforts enormously for this town-wide event.” In tribute, Abraham Lincoln and Cheshire’s own Admiral Foote are expected to make an appearance. Civil War re-enactors will demonstrate what life was like on the battleground 150 years ago.
