Cheshire Legion Team's Season Ends at Hands of Familiar Foe

Middletown elminates Cheshire in Northeast Regional tournament.

After a wild ride through the end of the regular season and postseason, the Cheshire American Legion baseball team’s season came to an end at the hands of a familiar foe.

In their fifth meeting this season, Cheshire lost to Middletown 7-4 in the Northeast Regional tournament Saturday at Palmer Field in Middletown.

Cheshire held a 4-2 lead heading into the sixth inning, but Middletown rallied and Nick Roy’s three-run triple in the eighth sent Post 75 to the victory.

I’m disappointed for the guys,” Cheshire coach Bill Robertson told Henry Chisholm of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT. “But, I’m really proud. When you win the zone championship four out of five years, a state championship, you should be able to walk away pretty happy with yourself.”
