Cheshire Library Book Sale Starts Today

Today marks the first of three days of the bi-annual Cheshire Public Library book sale, run by Friends of the Cheshire Library.

So what’s for sale?

“Everything,” said Martha Lape, board member of Friends of the Cheshire Library. There’s business, cooking, religion, history, many genres of fiction, and the biggest collection of children and young adult books ever.

“Every time we have [a book sale], the books are always fresh,” said Lape. Unsold books are bought by the bin by a Massachusetts company. Children’s books are donated to literacy programs.

The book sales raise an average of $7,000 for the Friends of the Cheshire Library fund, which helps to pay for library programs and renovations.

The book sale at the library will be in the Mary Baldwin Room on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
