Cheshire Police Eye Electronic Ticketing System
Town applies for state grant to help implement system.

The Cheshire Police Department is hoping to secure a state grant of up to $50,000 to help set up electronic ticketing for motorists, according to the Cheshire Citizen.
The Citizen reports that electronic tickets are printed by laser printers attached to onboard computers in patrol computers.
Police Chief Neil Dryfe told the Citizen that the electronic ticket system would automate the process of writing a ticket or warning, which he said is still a detailed, manual process.

Town Manager Michael A. Milone said that the system not only would be more efficient, but could lead to indirect savings to the town.
Milone told the Citizen that Cheshire police wrote 785 tickets during a recent seven-month period and if the electronic tickets could save officers even two minutes per vehicle stop, it would add more than 24 man-hours to department patrol time during that period.
