Cheshire Police Officers Honored For Life-Saving Actions

CHESHIRE, CT — Four Cheshire police officers were honored at Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting for their actions that saved a man’s life after he unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest, according to officials.

Sergeant Cara Fortier, Officer Gretchen Ovesny, Detective Sam DeCapua, and Officer Joseph Giampietro were honored by Cheshire Police Chief Neil Dryfe.

“The quick response of the officers to the scene, performing CPR and using an AED contributed to his life being saved and allowed him to stand along side of the officers, with his mother and sister, to extend their gratitude,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook.
