Cheshire Police Warn Of Phone Scam

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire police are warning residents of a phone scam where the caller claims they work at Eversource and are trying to collect a debt.

Police said the caller requests Green Dot Gift Cards as payment.

“PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS A SCAM,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Utility companies will not ask for payment via gift cards. If you receive a call like this, please hang up and call the utility company directly to confirm or call the routine police line for assistance.”
