Cheshire Police Warn Residents of Car Burglaries

Police are asking for everyone's assistance to help prevent the crimes.

Over the past several years, communities around the state have experienced numerous thefts from motor vehicles. The Town of Cheshire is no different.

The majority of these thefts occur during the overnight hours, but this crime occurs at all times throughout the day.

These thefts from motor vehicles continue to be a crime of opportunity.

The perpetrators of these crimes are looking for motor vehicles with:

  • Unsecure doors
  • Windows left down
  • Valuables left in sight
  • Keys in the vehicle

The Cheshire Police Department would like to remind everyone to:

  • Bring in valuables from the vehicle during the overnight hours
  • Lock vehicles when not in use
  • Not leave valuables in sight when parked in public or private areas
  • Not leave keys, or ignition fobs, in the vehicle whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked

While the Cheshire Police Department will continue to investigate these crimes, we are asking for everyone’s assistance in preventing the occurrence of this crime.
