Cheshire Public Library Changing Collection Software: Here’s What To Know

Officials said the migration process to the new system will "temporarily limit some of our usual functions."

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Public Library will be changing the software that tracks its collection from May 26 to June 3, according to officials.

Officials said the migration process to the new Polaris system will “temporarily limit some of our usual functions.”

What that means for you…

During that time:

  • You will NEED to bring your library card to the library for checking items out.
  • We will be unable to create new cards/patron accounts
  • We will be unable to place new interlibrary loan requests
  • We will be unable to register patrons from libraries outside of our system. (Hamden, Wallingford, etc.)
  • You will be able to check Encore for items but will NOT be able to login to check your personal account.
  • Checking the catalog using Encore will be inaccurate because it won’t be updating any items checked in or out.
  • We will not be able to place new holds or fill holds during this period of downtime.
  • You will not be able to use the self-checkout machines.
