Cheshire Rallies, Forces Deciding Game in American Legion Baseball Tournament

The Cheshire American Legion baseball team will play for the Southern Division Super Regional title on Wednesday night.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire American Legion baseball team had its back against the wall for the third straight night but rallied for a thrilling 4-1 victory over Stamford to force a deciding game for the Southern Division Super Regional title, according to GameTimeCT.

Cheshire (25-7) will play Stamford again at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Bill Pomfret Stadium in Middletown with the winner facing Northern Division champion RCP in the best-of-three state championship series that begins Friday night.

Cheshire’s Pat Downey, who blasted a two-run home run in the decisive sixth-inning rally, told Dave Phillips of GameTimeCT that the team is on a “roll right now. We’re feeling good, pitching well and making the plays.”
