
Cheshire resident Michael A. O’Brien was recently recognized by The Bloomfield Chamber as its Member of the Year. O’Brien is President and CEO of Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield. Also honored at the Bloomfield Chamber’s Annual Meeting was Roberta LaMonica, Director of Library Services at the Prosser Library with the Chamber’s Non-Profit Award; Donna Banks, Bloomfield Town Council member and long-time community volunteer with the Chamber’s Community Award and The Thomas Hooker Brewing Company with the Chamber’s Business Leadership Award.
“We chose Michael as the 2013 Member of the Year Award for his commitment to the Bloomfield Chamber through his volunteerism and generosity in offering his company resources to support Chamber meetings and events,” said Ken Sklodosky, chair of the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, Chamber Treasurer and Senior Market Manager, Simsbury Bank Bloomfield Office. “Michael not only volunteers his time as a Chamber board member, but is also an active member of the Chamber’s Health Care Committee. Here he uses his experience and expertise in the field to contribute to the committee’s good work educating the Chamber’s membership. He has supported many Chamber functions, including the 2012 Annual Meeting, the Chamber’s Economic Breakfast in November 2012, Chamber board meetings, and the Health Care Committee meetings. The Chamber of Commerce greatly appreciates the work that Michael has done to make the Bloomfield business community and the Chamber of Commerce a success.”

O’Brien has been the President and CEO of Duncaster since 2007. He has spent the past thirty years in senior executive level position in both senior care and hospital settings. He serves on the Board of St. Mary’s Hospital and Abilities without Boundaries. In addition, Michael services on the JCAHO Long-Term Care Professional Technical Advisory Committee, is a member of the Connecticut Association of Long-Term Care Financial Managers and is an active member of LeadingAge.

O’Brien lives in Cheshire with his wife Ann and their children, Michael and Kelly.
