Cheshire Resident Honored with Nightingale Award

Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is proud to announce that nurse Nicole Bartone, RN, was honored with the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing at a gala celebration in New Haven.

Considered one of Connecticut’s most prestigious nursing honors, the Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing program was created to celebrate outstanding nursing professionals and to elevate the profession in the state of Connecticut. Bartone was among dozens of exceptional nurses from Greater New Haven health care organizations to have received the honor.

Bartone began her career at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare eight years ago as a Nursing Assistant before becoming a nurse in 2016. She is known for her high standards of performance and for putting her patients at the center of all care decisions as they work together to achieve set goals. Colleagues say that treating her patients with respect and preserving their dignity are the hallmarks of her care.

One co-worker said, “Nicole carves out quiet moments with her patients to give each person what they need, whether it be enthusiastic cheerleading or holding the hand of a sad patient and acknowledging their emotions. Nicole finds challenging moments energizing and always strives for excellence.”

Bartone said, “I feel privileged be able to care for and build trusting relationships with patients who are at the most vulnerable and scariest points in their lives. I couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling and rewarding career.”
