The Cheshire hockey team's season came to an end with a loss to No. 4 Lyman Hall in the CIAC Division II semifinals at Quinnipiac University

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire hockey team’s season came to an end with a 4-1 loss to fourth-seeded Lyman Hall in the CIAC Division II semifinals Tuesday night at Quinnipiac University.

The top-seeded Rams had advanced to the semifinals with a 5-2 win over No. 9 Amity in the quarterfinals, and a 3-2 overtime victory over the 16th-seeded Watertown co-op team in the first round.

After a scoreless first period, Cheshire took a 1-0 lead in the second period when Zachary Hooper scored off assists from Mark Laskin and Colin Dempsey, according to GameTimeCT.

Lyman Hall’s George Porto responded just 19 seconds later with an unassisted goal to make it a 1-1 game.

The Trojans scored three goals in the third quarter to take home the victory and advance to the title game.

Lyman Hall will take on No. 11 Conard in the championship game on Friday, March 20 at Quinnipiac University.

Conard beat the second-seeded East Haven co-op hockey team 2-0 in the other semifinal game on Tuesday.
