Cheshire Student Makes Documentary
A grant from Cheshire Academy allows student to make time-lapse film

Jacob Korman ‘16 of Cheshire received a Rizzolo-Larson Venture Grant from Cheshire Academy to enroll in a two-week summer course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He and three other grant recipients from the Academy made presentations about their learning experiences at an all-school assembly on Thursday.
The grant project was a six-minute time-lapse video documentary about students’ eating habits while living in a dorm. Korman produced the video using professional-level Adobe Premiere editing software.
His grant application was titled “Artist as Storyteller,” which is a craft Korman told his fellow students he’s pursued since he made commercials with a home video camera as a youngster in his backyard.

History Department Chair James “Butch” Rogers said the grants allow students to “follow a personal passion with financial support from the Academy.” Previous grants have allowed students to study archeology in Romania, architecture in Germany and volunteer for a dolphin rescue organization.
The annual grant from the Academy provides up to $5,000 for students to enhance their educational experiences. Applications for the grant open in December.
