Cheshire Students Selected As U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates

The scholar program recognizes and honors some of the nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

CHESHIRE, CT — Two students from Cheshire have been selected as candidates for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

The students are Daniel M. D'souza of Cheshire High School, and Shaowen Zhu of Cheshire Academy.

Established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes and honors some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

Each year, up to 161 students are named as presidential scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.

The semifinalists will be announced in mid-April, followed by the 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars in early May.
