Cheshire's Emma Farrel Helps Lead SCSU Women's Lacrosse to First Win

Fellow Cheshire native Lauren Anderson also contributed to the victory.

Cheshire’s Emma Farrel scored six goals to help lead the Southern Connecticut State University women’s lacrosse team to a 21-5 victory over Alderson-Broaddus Tuesday in West Virginia.

Farrel, a freshman, also added an assist while fellow Cheshire native Lauren Anderson scored twice.

Kennedy Sherman finished with four goals and five assists, while Norwalk’s Jennifer McCarthy added six goals to help lead the Owls to their first win of the season.

McCarthy and Sherman scored the first four goals of the game before Alderson-Broaddus connected for its first goal. Three goals from Farrel, two from McCarthy and one from Sherman padded the advantage to 10-1.

The Owls (1-2) held a 16-2 lead at halftime and then outscored the Battlers by a 5-3 margin in the second half.

Southington’s Carolynn Keal added a goal while Nicole Healey (of Milford) scored twice and Taylor Portlelinha (Woodbridge) handed out an assist.

Goalie Nora Anderson (of Stratford) made six saves in the win.
