Cheshire's Farrell has Banner Day in Loss to Nationally Ranked Team
The Owls fell to No. 20 Bentley on Saturday.

Cheshire’s Emma Farrell, a freshman on the Southern Connecticut State University women’s lacrosse team, registered her second six-goal game of the season and also added an assist, but the Owls’ lost a 14-10 decision to No. 20 nationally ranked Bentley in Waltham, Mass.
The Owls are now 2-7, 1-6 in Northeast-10 Conference play, while Bentley is 6-4 overall and 5-3 in league action.
Bentley jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Farrel and Jennifer McCarthy (of Norwalk) got the Owls on the board and made it a 4-2 game. The teams then alternated the next four total goals - Farrel and Lauren Anderson (of Cheshire) scored for the Owls - to push the score to 6-4 in favor of Bentley.

The Falcons then scored five of the final seven goals of the opening half - Farrel and Kennedy Sherman (Buchanan, N.Y.) recorded the two Owls’ goals - to carry an 11-6 lead into halftime.
Bentley scored twice in the opening five minutes of the second half to build their biggest lead of the game at 13-6. The Owls defense then tightened up and didn’t allow another Bentley goal for almost 24 minutes. During that stretch, Farrel scored twice along with a single goal from Carolynn Keal (of Southington) to close within four at 13-9. The teams would then trade goals in the final 68 seconds to make it a 14-10 final.
Nora Anderson (of Stratford) stopped nine shots for the Owls in the game.
