Cheshire's Gunneson Collects NE-10 Conference Honors

Gunneson is a senior captain on the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team.

For the second time in her collegiate career, Cheshire’s Kelly Gunneson, a senior on the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team, has been selected to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for selection to the academic all-conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and /or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR).

Previously named to the NE-10 All-Academic Team following her sophomore campaign, Gunneson, a team captain, finished second on the team in kills with 192. She also contributed 72 digs, 24 blocks, seven assists and four service aces in 95 sets played.

She is a secondary education and mathematics major with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average.
