Cheshire's Kelly Gunneson Named SCSU Athlete of the Week

Gunneson, a senior, has played a key role for the women's volleyball team this season.

Cheshire’s Kelly Gunneson, a senior on the Southern Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team, was named, along with sophomore Louis Greenway Tambini (Nottingham, England) of the men’s soccer team, as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Gunneson played a key role in the Owls’ offensive attack in their four matches last week. She opened the week with seven kills in Southern’s five-set win over Queens.

Two days later, she registered a career-high 16 kills along with seven digs in a match against Georgian Court. Gunneson followed that effort up with 14 kills in a match against Bloomfield on Saturday.
