Cheshire’s Kya O’Donnell, a freshman on the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team, scored her first collegiate goal in the Owls’ 7-1 loss to Adelphi Tuesday night in New Haven.
The Owls fell to 1-4 with the loss, while Adelphi evened its record at 2-2.
The Panthers scored five first half goals, two each from Mary Plotas and Rachel Colvin. Plotas scored the first two, within a span of 2:39, to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes in. Colvin then sandwiched her two goals around a tally from Jamie Ahrens.

Plotas capped the hat trick early in the second half before Lena Pollich connected for a 7-0 lead.
O’Donnell closed the scoring in the game with 12:20 left off an assist from Bailey McGinnis (North Branford).

The Owls are back in action on Saturday for a road game at AIC.
