CHS Boys CC Team Win 1st Place In Guilford On 9-29-22

CHS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM WIN 1ST PLACE AT THE SCC DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2022 IN GUILFORD. FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS! THEY ARE NOW THE 2022 HOUSATONIC DIVISION CHAMPIONS!

The sun always shines for the CHS Boys Cross Country Team. On Sep 29, 2022 they competed at the SCC Divisional Championship at the Guilford Fairgrounds in Guilford on Thursday September 29th. They did extremely well and they won 1st Place with a score of 32 for the 3 mile course. The Rams are now the 2022 Housatonic Division Champions! Head Coach Pam Gunneson stated “Cheshire Boys have taken the title!” away from last year’s 1st place winner of Shelton, 2nd Place was Amity & Cheshire was 3rd according to Gunneson.

The Rams had a Fantastic Finish and they made the Top 5, Top 10, Top 15, Top 20 & Top 25 runners at the meet. They dominated the meet. The other teams CHS defeated were 2nd place Shelton score 55, 3rd Amity score 87, 4th Lyman Hall score 89, 5th Sheehan score 93.

The top scorers for the Rams were #1 Tyler Caron time 16:28.90, #5 Colin Grevelding time 17:02.10, #6 James Boyd time 17:11.20, #7 Daniel D’Souza time 17:15.20, #13 Jack Lengyel time 17:35.60, #19 Jeremiah Mann time 17:55.40, #21 Michael DeJoseph time 17:59.80 & #22 Brian Krzanowski time 18:14.10.

Head Coach Pam Gunneson was elated about her team’s first place victory on Thursday, September 29, 2022 and commented. “We won the Housatonic Division, the first time in 20 years. I am so proud of all of the boys. It was a great team effort! The boys had an excellent day! They won due to their hard work, determination and desire to win. Coach Grego and I are so proud of all of them.”

The next event for the CHS Boys Cross Country team will be the Wickham Invitational on Saturday, October 8, 2022 in Manchester. Race time 9 a.m.
