CHS Boys Varsity CC Team Wins 2nd Place At 9-27-23 Guilford Meet

CHS BOYS VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY TEAM WINS 2ND PLACE AT THE SCC DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN GUILFORD ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2023

In what was a very close race the CHS Boys Varsity Cross Country Team won 2nd Place at the SCC Divisional Championships on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in Guilford. The score was Amity 31, Cheshire 32, Shelton 92 and Lyman Hall 91.

The top scorers for CHS Rams Boys Cross Country Team were coming in as the third runner at the meet and the first student-athlete from CHS was Senior & Quad Captain Daniel D’Souza with a time of 16:28, 4th Senior & Quad Captain Tyler Caron 16:48, 5th James Boyd 16:56, 10th Senior & Quad Captain Jack Lengyel 17:22, 17th Zach Chasen 18:05, 20th Freshman Raine Ma 18:28.3, 22nd Hanan Talipan Pinedo 18:34.2, & 24th Senior & Quad Captain Brian Krzanowski 18:49.8.

Head Coach Pam Gunneson commented about her team’s finish at Wednesday’s meet. “I am so proud of how the boys ran today, many running personal bests and putting everything they had into their race. Our top 4 boys all finished in the top 9 places.”

Freshman student-athlete Raine Ma competed at the SCC Varsity Cross Country Meet where he finished #20. Gunneson stated why he ran on Wednesday and she is hopeful that he may run varsity for the whole season, “Raine has had strong finishes and has begun finishing races in our top 7 runners which gave him the opportunity to run with our Varsity runners. As long as he continues to run one of the 7 fastest times/ finishes at each race he could run there.”

The next event for the CHS Rams Boys Cross Country Teams will be a meet with Foran, East Haven & Fairfield Prep High Schools on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in Milford. Race Time 4 p.m.
