CHS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team Defeats XHS On 4-20-22 In Middletown

CHESHIRE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM WIN IN MATCH-UP WITH XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL IN MIDDLETOWN, ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20TH.

The Cheshire High School varsity boys’ volleyball teams competed against Xavier High School in Middletown on Wednesday, April 20th. The CHS team was victorious in their league.

The CHS varsity team played best of five games and the team that reaches 25 points first wins the match. CHS won 3 games and XHS won one game. In the first match up XHS won with a score of 25 to CHS 13. In the second game CHS won with a score of 25-22. The third game it was CHS 25 to XHS 20. In the fourth game it was CHS 25 to XHS 9. Due to CHS three wins a fifth game was not necessary.

Head CHS Boys Varsity Volleyball Coach Susan Bavone commented about her teams win over Xavier. ¨In our win against Xavier, I thought we struggled on offense in the first set but when our hitters started to settle in and cut down on their errors, we were able to put some pressure on Xavier's players to make passes. Tim Nugent did a good job of setting our hitters and putting them in position to make plays. It was really a team effort where multiple players stepped up when we needed it. I thought our defense was solid for the most part and Will Allen was tough for them to defend out of the middle for us. ¨

After the CHS Volleyball game with Xavier the team’s record was 6 wins & 2 losses. Since that game the varsity team improved further, they are now 11 wins & 2 losses according to Head Coach Bavone. The next game is a rematch with Xavier High School on Tuesday, May 10th at Cheshire High School. Game Time: 6 p.m.
