The CHS Girls Cross Country Team had a terrific week with nothing but straight through wins first at a home meet at Cheshire Park on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 then an away meet with Wallingford’s Lyman Hall High School on Friday, Oct 14, 2022 at Wharton Brook State Park in North Haven. As of their last meet on Friday the Lady Rams are still undefeated at 10-0.

Head Coach Rob Schaefer commented about his team’s victory on October 11th. “Alexa’s run today was a beautiful race. She shattered her course record by 44 seconds. That is a fantastic time on our course. Fantastic! After a did-not-finish at Wickham, Mia Vientos came back to her true form. She runs strong, intelligent races. Today was no exception. The heroes of the day are the two freshmen – Emily D’Souza and Ava Ciccone. A great surprise- Senior Alex Palladino ran fifth for us close to Ava Ciccone in fourth. This was Alex’s best race in a long time… who has been toying with greatness all season. Today she found her strength.” Schaefer mentioned that this meet was a time to bid farewell to their Senior athletes who are members of the Class of 2023. “Today was our Senior Day celebration. It is always bittersweet to honor our seniors. As their coach, I got to know them so well over the years. It is hard to know that they are winding down their cross country careers. Still, it is joyous.”

The Rams met with Lyman Hall the score was CHS 19 Lyman Hall 42. Alexa Ciccone finished first again with a time of 20:42. Other top scorers were #3 Emily D’Souza time 22:09, # 4 Mia Vientos time 22:09, #5 Ava Ciccone time 22:10, #6 Eva Curran time 22:17, #8 Jocelyn Grace time 25:32, #9 Victorija Brin time 25:33, & #10 Eva Morse time 25:34.
