The Cheshire High School Girls Cross Country Teams keep doing what they do best: Winning. On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, meet at Eisenhower Park in Milford the varsity team won 1st Place against their three competitors: Foran, Lauralton Hall & East Haven. The score was CHS 18, Foran 46 & Lauralton Hall 88 and East Haven did not have enough athletes to score at the meet.
Coming in first place at the meet was Senior & CHS Tri-Captain Alexa Ciccone with a time of 19:47. The rest of the Lady Rams Cross Country Team finished in the Top Ten at the meet. Coming in 2nd Place was Senior & Tri-Captain Mia Vientos 20:59, Ava Ciccone 4th 21:36, Eva Curran 5th 21:36.5, Emily D’Souza 6th 21:42, Sage Falcon 7th 22:01, Julia Gonzalez 8th 22:07 and Sarah Curran 10th 22:09.9

Regarding Alexa Ciccone’s first place finish in Milford Coach Schaefer stated, ““The home team coach said that only a couple of girls have run this course under 20:00. Now we can add Alexa Ciccone’s name to the list. She is simply amazing!”
The Lady Rams are still undefeated with 9 wins and 0 losses. At this time last year the Lady Rams were still undefeated according to Head Coach Rob Schaefer.

Schaefer commented further about his team after the meet. “Our team continues to roll. We are challenged by tough courses, good teams, and the spirit of competition wherever we run. We are proud to run so well against the teams of the tough Southern Connecticut Conference. Our depth is amazing this year. To have eight girls run this fast on a challenging course is a coach’s dream.
The next event for the CHS Girls Cross Country Team will be a home meet on Friday, Oct 13, 2023 against Wallingford’s Lyman Hall High School. Race time 4 p.m.
