Teen, 14, Struck By Tractor-Trailer In Cheshire: UPDATE

Police said the teen sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the accident, which remains under investigation.

CHESHIRE, CT — A 14-year-old girl was struck by a tractor-trailer at a crosswalk on Main Street in Cheshire Friday evening, according to police. The teen was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after 3 p.m., Cheshire Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in which a pedestrian had been struck by a tractor trailer truck, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland. The accident occurred at the intersection of West Main St and Main St (Route 68/70).

Sutherland said the pedestrian, a 14-year-old girl, was struck at the crosswalk and suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment. (To sign up for Cheshire breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

“The tractor trailer truck was traveling eastbound on West Main Street and making a right turn onto Main Street when the rear tires of the trailer portion of the tractor trailer struck the 14-year-old girls’ leg, causing her injuries,” Sutherland said in a press release.

The Cheshire Police Traffic Division responded to the scene to investigate.

The operator of the tractor trailer truck is cooperating with the investigation, which is still ongoing, according to Sutherland.
