Crews Respond To Hazmat Incident At Business In Cheshire
The Cheshire Fire Department responded to a hazmat incident at a business in Cheshire on Thursday.
CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire Fire Department responded to a hazmat incident at Collins Aerospace at 250 Knotter Drive in Cheshire on Thursday, according to officials.
Officials said the incident involved a “small amount of acid and alcohols being accidently mixed in a waste container drum.”
“The chemicals reacted and caused a slight pressure in the drum causing the cap to come off and create vapors in the one contained room,” officials wrote in a post on the Cheshire Fire Department’s Facebook page. “CFD crews metered the area, used litmus paper to determine acidity in the air and ventilated. The CFD worked closely with CT DEEP throughout the incident providing backup to them as they contained and mitigated the incident.”
