DNA Evidence Leads to Drug Bust in Cheshire: Police

The arrest follows a lengthy investigation that began with an accident in April, according to police.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Police have arrested a Waterbury man on drug charges following a lengthy investigation that began with an accident in April, according to police.

Brandon N. Garcia, 25, of Rosegarten Drive, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant after a lengthy investigation by the Cheshire Police Department Detective Bureau and Traffic Division.

Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland said in a press release that the warrant for Garcia’s arrest was obtained following extensive accident reconstruction, DNA testing, and forensic cellular analysis of the evidence recovered at the scene of the incident, which occurred on April 18.

Garcia was charged with illegal distribution or sales of narcotics, sale of certain illegal drugs, illegal possession, first-degree reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, operating under the influence of drugs, operating with a suspended license as well as six additional infractions.

Garcia was processed and later released on $107,500 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 8.
