Door-To-Door Solicitation Banned In Cheshire

Cheshire Town Manager Sean Kimball issued an executive order prohibiting door-to-door solicitation during the response to the coronavirus.

CHESHIRE, CT — Town Manager Sean M. Kimball has issued an executive order that prohibits door-to-door solicitation in Cheshire during the response of the new coronavirus. Kimball issued the following order on March 18:

WHEREAS, on March 16, 2020, Town Manager Sean M. Kimball declared a local state of emergency due to the unprecedented public health threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, and activated the municipal Emergency Operations Plan, and

WHEREAS, this emergency plan empowers the Town Manager to protect our residents as much as possible from the public health threat, and

WHEREAS, the COVID-19 virus spreads easily from person-to-person and may result in serious illness or death, and

WHEREAS, door-to-door solicitation creates an unnecessary face-to-face situation for residents who are home in unusual numbers due to the closures of schools and businesses, possibly endangering the health of residents and by extension the community,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Town Manager Sean M. Kimball, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Charter of the Town of Cheshire, the Cheshire Emergency Management Plan, and the State of Connecticut, do hereby prohibit door-to-door solicitation in the Town of Cheshire. This order will remain in effect until rescinded by the Town Manager.
