Dr. William Petit to Run for State Legislature: Report

Petit previously considered running for the 5th Congressional District seat but decided against it.

Dr. William Petit plans on running for the state’s legislature as the representative of the 22nd District, which includes Plainville and parts of New Britain, according to the Hartford Courant.

The Courant reports that Petit, 59, will run on the Republican ticket and is expected to provide a statement next week on his decision to run.

Petit previously considered a run for the 5th Congressional District in 2012 but decided against it because his wife had recently given birth to their son, William Petit III, according to the Courant.
