Driver Found With Stolen Gun, Drugs During Stop: Cheshire Police
Police say the driver was traveling over the speed limit.
CHESHIRE, CT — A Waterbury man was arrested after police say he was found to be in the possession of a stolen gun and marijuana during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon in Cheshire. Police were conducting speed enforcement on Cheshire Street when Karime Diaz was stopped at about 4 p.m. for going over the posted speed limit, according to Lt. Michael Durkee.
Durkee said police developed probable cause to search the vehicle and found a gun and 21 bags of marijuana individually packaged for sale inside the vehicle. The gun was later determined to be stolen out of Watertown in 2014, according to Durkee.
Karime, 35, was arrested on charges of traveling unreasonably fast, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, theft of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a permit and weapons possession in a motor vehicle.
