Driver Identified In Fatal Crash In Cheshire: Police
One person was killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Cheshire, according to police.
CHESHIRE, CT — A Meriden man has been identified as the driver killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Cheshire, police said in an update on Monday.
Police responded to the area of Diamond Hill Road and South Meriden Road around 5 a.m. on Aug. 14 on the report of a one-vehicle crash.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Jeremy Rodriguez of Meriden, died from his injuries before officers arrived at the scene, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland. Rodriguez was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The Cheshire Police Traffic Division and the Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team responded to the scene to conduct the investigation of the crash. The area of Diamond Hill Road and South Meriden Road was closed to all traffic for several hours for the investigation, according to Sutherland.
“Preliminary investigation has shown the vehicle had been travelling westbound on Diamond Hill Rd.,” Sutherland wrote in a news release. “It appears the vehicle had been travelling at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway to the left, travelled off the roadway on the northbound side of Diamond Hill Rd, and struck several trees causing damage to all sides of the vehicle, including the roof.”
