Driver Killed In Crash Identified: Cheshire Police
One driver died following a head-on crash on Route 70 in Cheshire last week.

CHESHIRE, CT — Police have identified Thomas Goerg, 58, as the driver who died after a head-on crash on Route 70 in Cheshire last Friday afternoon. Police responded to the crash, which occurred on Waterbury Road (Route 70) between Winslow Road and Marion Road, around 12:10 p.m. on Nov. 8.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Goerg was traveling westbound on Waterbury Road and 38-year-old Ryan Sheehan, of Cheshire, was traveling eastbound on Waterbury Road when the head-on collision occurred, according to Lt. Michael Durkee.
Both Goerg and Sheehan were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. Sheehan sustained significant, non-life-threatening injuries, and Goerg died from his injuries, according to Durkee.

Police previously said that both drivers needed to be extricated from the vehicles and a juvenile was in a child safety seat and didn't need to be extricated. The child had minor injuries, police said at the time.
The accident remains under investigation, according to Durkee.
