DUI Driver Tried To Run Over Own Dog: Cheshire Police

Responding officers found the man being restrained by a neighbor, according to a report.

CHESHIRE, CT — A Cheshire man is accused of attempting to run over his own dog while driving under the influence and police say he also threatened a neighbor, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports Charles Dayhoff, 57, of Cherrywood Circle, was arrested Monday evening after responding officers found a neighbor restraining him on the ground.

Dayhoff allegedly told police that the dog belonged to him and he can do what he wants to it, according to the Record-Journal. The dog ran off and was not struck by the car.
