Energize Connecticut Center Kicks Off Its Renewable Energy Summer Series on June 16

Become a 'Clean Energy Champion' and explore Earth's renewable energies this summer at the Energize Connecticut Center

As part of its on-going family-friendly programming, the Energize Connecticut Center invites children and their families to become ‘Clean Energy Champions’ this summer with its Renewable Energy Summer Series. The Series will kick off the three-part program on Friday, June 16, exploring the wonders of our Sun and solar energy.

The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Energize Connecticut Center, 122 Universal Drive North, North Haven (next to Panera Bread in the Target Plaza). It is free of charge and open to the public.

During the evening’s event, kids and adults will have an opportunity to participate in solar-related activities and experiments, such as:

  • Building a plastic bottle self-watering planter
  • Designing a bracelet or keychain with color changing solar beads
  • Creating artwork that is only visible in the Sun
  • Building solar powered circuits
  • Learning about solar cooking

Guests can also check out the Center’s solar panel display, and learn about the benefits of using solar energy for your home with Sunlight Solar.

The Renewable Energy Summer Series will continue through July and August with events on Friday, July 21, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, August 18, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
