10th ANNIVERSARY OF MARK JARDIM MEMORIAL JOG SET FOR OCTOBER 9th
TO HONOR CHESHIRE MAN KILLED ON 9/11
The tenth annual Mark Jardim Memorial Jog (MJMJ) will take place at Cheshire Park to honor the former Cheshire resident who was killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Towers in New York City.

The race will cover the park trails Mr. Jardim ran as a member of the Cheshire High School cross country team. He was a 1980 graduate of CHS.
Hundreds of runners take part in the 5K race and fun run each year, with an especially large turnout expected to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The yearly event has raised more than $54,000 for the Mark S. Jardim Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Cheshire Special Olympics, CHS cross country teams, the Cheshire Police Benevolent Association, and other charitable organizations.
Numerous sponsors have helped make the MJMJ a success, including Cheshire Dental which has been a major sponsor of the event. Event organizers hope to attract additional sponsors to raise money for community causes, and to honor Mr. Jardim and other 9/11 victims.
MJMJ 2011 will begin at 1 p.m., with registration opening at 11:30 a.m.
In addition to the 5K race for adults, there will be a half-mile fun run for kids, post-race BBQ and other activities for participants and families.
Entrance fee for 5K race participants will be $20, and $5 for the fun run. Non-racing participation is free, but donations will be accepted.
Jardim, 39 at the time of his death, was a Senior Vice-President at Zurich Scudder Investments. He was on the 106th floor of the north Trade Tower for a business conference during the terrorist attacks.
