Grow Your Own….Organically Program at the Kellogg Center

The Naugatuck Valley Audubon Society, Inc., in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP’s) Kellogg Environmental Center will host a program titled Grow Your Own….Organically at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby, Connecticut.  

Meet organic farmer and Connecticut Northeast Organic Farming Association (CT NOFA) executive director Bill Duesing and learn how to grow delicious organic vegetables.  Bill, an organic farmer, author and environmental artist, has been working to promote organic agriculture and greater local food sufficiency in Connecticut and the Northeast. 

As president of Solar Farm Education, he has coordinated a number of organic and sustainable agricultural education programs. He will present an illustrated talk which will cover starting a garden, building healthy soil, planning for a long harvest season and organic pest management.

The Connecticut Northeast Organic Farming Association (CT NOFA) has been advocating and educating for a local and organic food system in Connecticut since 1982.  It is an organization with about 800 members open to anyone who is interested in local and organic food, farming, gardening or land care. 

 A donation of $4.00/adult and $2/student or child is requested.
