The duet team of Mark Naftalin on piano and Mike Michaels on harmonica, vocals and guitar offers a musical journey through the many shades of blues and R & B music that have come down to us through the years. They will perform at the Cheshire Public Library on Sunday, March 25 at 4:00pm. The concert is free and open to the public. It was funded by the Friends of the Cheshire Public Library.
Their concert program moves from the post World War Two Chicago blues of Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed and Little Walter, back through the wistful creations of Leroy Carr in the 1930s, the white southern blues of country music creator Jimmie Rodgers and includes a tribute to the greatest of blues divas, Bessie Smith.
Mark and Mike present examples of the triumphs and tribulations of artists whose music continues to move listeners and influence musicians from all over the world.
Mark Naftalin entered the musical scene in 1965 as the keyboardist with the popular and influential Paul Butterfield Blues Band. He is internationally renowned among blues fans for his contributions to the band's sound.
