Cheshire High Dismisses Early After Nearby Hazmat Incident
Police say a chemical reaction incident has completed and officials are testing the air quality in the immediate vicinity: UPDATE

CHESHIRE, CT — In a 10 a.m. update, Cheshire Police say the chemical reaction incident has completed and personnel are “continuing to test air quality in the immediate vicinity.”
“While the odor associated with this incident may continue to be present for a period of time but it is not a danger,” police said in a post on Facebook.
Cheshire High School announced that it is dismissing early on Monday. Classes are dismissing at 10 a.m. Police say school officials made the decision to dismiss due to the smell.

“We reiterate, the smell will persist for some time, but does not pose a health hazard,” police said on Facebook.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire police say to avoid the area of Willow and Spring streets due to road closures releated to an unknown hazmat incident. Police and fire are on the scene.
Dalton Enterprise and nearby homes have been evacuated due to the chemical reaction, NBC Connecticut reports. There are no injuries.

The company, which makes pavement maintenance products, is located off of Willow Street in #Cheshire. No word at this point on how many homes have been evacuated, but there are home located right across the street from the plant entrance.
