Husband, Wife Injured In Serious Motorcycle Crash In Cheshire: UPDATE

Police identified the occupants of the motorcycle and say the operator sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash.

CHESHIRE, CT — A motorcycle operator remains in the intensive care unit after suffering life-threatening injuries in a serious crash with a car Thursday night in Cheshire, according to police. In a Friday afternoon update, police identified the occupants of the motorcycle as Jeffrey and Susan Desiderio of Prospect.

At about 6:45 p.m. on May 18, Cheshire Police responded to the crash, which occurred on Highland Avenue at its intersection with I-691. Both Jeffrey and Susan Desiderio were transported to St. Mary’s hospital for treatment of the injuries sustained in the crash, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland. Sutherland said Jeffrey Desiderio is in the ICU and his injuries are being described as life-threatening. Susan Desiderio is awaiting surgery for injuries that are being described as serious but non-life-threatening, according to Sutherland.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the crash and is cooperating with the investigation, Sutherland said.

The Cheshire Police Department Traffic Division, with assistance from members of the Central Naugatuck Valley Regional Accident Investigation Team, responded to, and processed the crash scene.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing, Sutherland said.
