Man Dies After Rear-Ending Tractor-Trailer On I-84: Police
Authorities are searching for witnesses following the early-morning crash on eastbound I-84 near Cheshire.
CHESHIRE, CT — A New Britain man is dead after his vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 near Cheshire, according to state police.
Authorities said the crash happened on eastbound I-84 shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday. According to police, 44-year-old Lawrence J. Soucy was driving a Hyundai Accent in the far-right lane near exit 26 when the crash occurred.
Police said a tractor-trailer driven by a 53-year-old Florida woman was driving slowly in the far right lane when Soucy's vehicle approached her from behind. According to authorities, Soucy's car then struck the rear of the woman's trailer.

Soucy was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
