Man Escaped Custody At MidState Medical Center: Cheshire Police

Police are looking for a man who escaped custody while receiving treatment at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

CHESHIRE, CT — A man escaped from custody while receiving treatment at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden, according to Cheshire Police.

Police said Michael V. Zimmitti, 29, was taken into custody Wednesday on an active arrest warrant on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle – first offense and illegal use of a payment card. He was being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Zimmitti escaped from custody while receiving treatment at MidState Medical Center in Meriden and is still at-large, police said on Thursday morning.

Zimmitti is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown hair and several tattoos all over his body, according to police.

Police said an arrest affidavit for escape from custody is being prepared. In addition to the charges with the Cheshire Police Department, Zimmitti has an outstanding arrest warrant out of Meriden on charges of third-degree robbery, second-degree breach of peace, and criminal attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny.
