Life-Threatening Injuries Reported In Cheshire Crash: UPDATE

Police say the operator of a motorcycle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a car.

CHESHIRE, CT — In a late Thursday night update, Cheshire Police said a motorcycle operator sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash with a car on Highland Avenue at its intersection with I-691. A passenger on the motorcycle sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland. Both motorcycle occupants were transported to area hospitals.

The crash occurred at about 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Sutherland said the operator of the car was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation. (To sign up for Cheshire breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The Cheshire Police Department Traffic Division, with assistance from members of the Central Naugatuck Valley Regional Accident Investigation Team, responded to, and processed the crash scene.

Sutherland said the road closures were expected to be open shortly after midnight.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing, Sutherland said.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle accident with injuries on Highland Avenue (CT Route 10) near its intersection with I-691, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland. The accident was a car versus motorcycle accident, Sutherland said.

Both occupants of the motorcycle have been transported to area hospitals with serious injuries, according to Sutherland.

As of 9 p.m., southbound traffic is normal through this area, according to Sutherland.

“Northbound traffic is being diverted off of Highland Avenue at East and West Johnson Avenue,” Sutherland said. “Exit 3 for westbound traffic is closed for both entry and exit from I-691. Traffic exiting I-691 Eastbound at Exit 3 will be diverted southbound onto Highland Avenue at the end of the exit ramp. All motorists are encouraged to avoid this area.”
