Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes Road In Cheshire: Police

Police said "multiple" people were hospitalized after the crash.

CHESHIRE, CT — Highland Avenue between Schoolhouse Road and West Johnson Avenue will be closed for an extended period of time due to a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday, according to police.

Police responded to the crash around 4:15 p.m.

The crash involved one vehicle colliding with multiple vehicles at different locations and ended at the intersection of Highland Avenue and West Johnson Avenue after a final collision, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland.

Sutherland said occupants from “multiple vehicles” were taken to area hospitals. It wasn’t immediately known the extent or severity of injuries, according to Sutherland.

Highland Avenue between Schoolhouse Road and West Johnson Avenue will be closed for an extended period of time for the expected lengthy investigation, according to Sutherland.

Connecticut State Police Traffic Division and Major Crimes responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation, Sutherland said in an update on Saturday night.
