Obituary: Barbara E. Barlok, 81, Of Cheshire

She was active in her community, serving on the League of Women Voters as well as many terms on the Cheshire Planning and Zoning Commission.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Barbara E. Barlok, 81, of Cheshire, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Masonicare Health Center. She was the wife of the late Ronald Barlok.

Barbara was born December 21, 1941, in Cranford, NJ, the daughter of the late Milton and Dorothy (Vincentsen) Harris. She was raised and educated in Cranford, graduating from Cranford High School. She furthered her education by obtaining her Bachelors from Cedar Crest College and her Masters at Yale Divinity School.

A longtime resident of Cheshire, she was active in her community serving on the League of Women Voters as well as many terms on the Cheshire Planning and Zoning Commission.

She was the Executive Director for various non-profit organizations and had served on the boards of the Connecticut Coalition on Aging, the Alzheimer's Association, Sage Services, and Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers.

Barbara is survived by her children Dodi Gidicsin and her husband Jim, Scott Barlok and his wife Jane, and Jeff Barlok and his wife Tracy; her grandchildren Sara, Zachary, Katie, and Danny Barlok, Stephanie, Gregory, and Jenny Gidicsin.

She enjoyed spending time at her home in Lake George with family and specifically hosting “Grandma Camp.”

Arrangements – A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr. A gathering will follow in the Church Hall immediately following the service. Committal will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Southington, CT 06489.
