Obituary: Dorene A. Foster Merante, 80, Of Cheshire

CHESHIRE, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Dorene A. Foster Merante, 80, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Elim Park, Cheshire with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert M. Merante.

Dorene was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on April 16th, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Theresa Volpe Foster. Dorene was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School, New Haven, and the former Stones Business College. She had worked for the SNET Company, Professional Pensions and later for Principal Financial where she retired as Vice President of Marketing.

Dorene was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel on television.

Mother of Francis Mitchell Merante (Virginia “Ginger”), Robert Christopher Merante and Jaime Lee Nardecchia (Joseph). Grandmother of James Poulton, Mitchell Robert Merante, Taylor David Merante, Joseph Michael Nardecchia, Jr. and Sophia Jaime Nardecchia. Sister of Forest “Rusty” Foster (Ruth Lippin). Aunt of Rachel Lippin-Foster and Jesse Lippin-Foster. Also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

The visiting hours will be Sunday, July 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Thomas Beckett Church, 435 North Brooksvale Road, Cheshire on Monday morning, July 3 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
